Read and Help a Cause
In support, I (of course) donate to the cause. This year, in addition to my normal donation, I’m going to kick in additional funds for every one of my books and short stories sold between now and May 1st, and I’m inviting you to help. If you email me copies of your order confirmations from any source—the publisher, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Fictionwise – doesn’t matter. I’ll add $1.00 for every novel and fifty cents for every short story sold during this timeframe. This is your chance to enjoy a good read and help a good cause. Whether you choose one of my two new Wild Rose Press releases, Hurricane Breeze and Second Chance Rose, or go all the way back to Words, the first contracted WRP short story, you'll know you're doing more than enjoying a good read.
Note: This is a personal donation and in no way represents an endorsement from my publishers.

FORMERLY KNOWN AS OVERWORKED AND UNDERLAID
It started out as a germ of an idea. Then it blossomed into three chapters. Then I lost the notebook I had penned those first three chapters in. I didn't forget about the idea, but I kept typing away(really revising and revising and revising) on How Much You Want to Bet?
But then I got the chance to write this story. (Okay, I was freaking out, going over edits for How Much You Want to Bet? and waiting for more. I had nothing but free time to spaz out. So I used the time to distract myself.) I didn't remember all the details of the story, but I had a title and the opening scene. This story had been simmering for close to a year. So I penned that sucker in three months. And now, voila
Oh, the title change, well, it was a little racy. But trust me the sex scenes live up to that title.
Here's a blurb:
A rock and a hard place has nothing on Megan Hazley when she agrees to stay for her mother's wedding. Nicole aka Mommie Dearest isn't Megan's only obstacle to getting the deed to her deceased father's home; her ex-boyfriend, Aiden Blake, is the best man. Time hasn’t lessened the spark between them, a spark that should have died the day she hitched hiked out of “Boondock”, U.S.A.
Megan must deal with the troubles she left behind 12 years ago and choose between the man she once loved and the life she built for herself.
Who said going home was easy?
I know since you've read How Much You Want to Bet? You can't wait for this one to be released. Well, you're going to have to wait for me to finish spazing out on edits. But if you don't have How Much You Want to Bet? You can get it here. Just a little something to tide you over.
Melissa Blue and I'm out.

Vortex to the Ojibwa
The years have passed, the stories have changed and the writing has improved.
Yes, my book Vortex to the Ojibwa is coming out in e-print. The story of time-traveling teens who visit an Indian encampment was based in part of a cenote found near my cottage in Parry Sound.
When a friend's son climbed down inside it, he found an arrow head from the pre-historic age.
The story almost wrote itself.
I hope you read it and enjoy it.

Rank Tracer - Are You Using It?
The lower the number, the better your sales are. Besides giving you a rough idea of what your sales might be, it can also show you if a particular marketing/advertising strategy has worked. See your number go down one day? Did you just place a banner ad on a well-known site? Or do an interview, or a reading somewhere?
Is you don't have time to constantly check your rank, though, here's a site you might find useful. I stumbled upon it over the weekend and am impressed with what I see so far. RankTracer will trace any number of products for you, and create daily/weekly/monthly charts that show your sales ups and downs. They'll also include estimated sales, based on your rank number. Just a bit of an easier way to keep track of your sales and marketing efforts, I think.
Plus their customer service is awesome. It costs only $2/month per product to trace, but if you blog about them or put a link on your website, they'll start you off with a couple of months free. Check it out - I'm liking it so far!
Who Am I?
One day while pregnant with my daughter I flung the book I currently attempted to devour in disgust and muttered, "I can do better than that!" I'm still not sure if the book was really that bad or if I merely had a hormonal moment, but thus began my writing journey.
That incident occurred more than twenty-five years ago and I must say I, as an author as well as a human being, have evolved a great deal in a quarter of a century.
For years I was a closet writer who wrote in 5-subject notebooks, shy and afraid of what people would think. I had no idea that there were rules to writing or anything similar. I simply wrote as the characters and story unfolded in my mind. Once I bought my first word processor, my secret was out. The one defining moment when I thought I just may be on to something was when my mother, also an avid reader but a sports fanatic, missed the Super Bowl to read my manuscript. If you know any sports fanatics you'll know that it takes something very special or drastic to pull them away from that game.
I've come a long way since those years as a closet writer. Today I am multi-published in romantic fiction and creative non-fiction. My writing has won awards such as Coeur de Louisianne’s 1999 Diamond in the Rough and their 2000 Ruby and in 2001 I earned my RWA Pro Pin.
My short stories have received awards such as Reviewers Top Pick from Night Owl Romance & Recommended Read from My Book Cravings

My very first review!!
Sometimes, you know--when you write, you kind of wonder if anyone (well, other than your critique partner) is ever going to say, "Hey, that was good." Guess I was stressing. My first romantic suspense, Hot Contract, came out the other day--all thanks to my fabulous editor, Laura. And I got a review.
It might only be "a" review. But it's a spiffy keen, utterly fabulous review, and I love it to death. I'm going to frame it and hang it on my wall. (I'm such a noob, lol)

North and South!
Here's a video I found on You Tube from the screen adaptation of Elizabeth Gaskell's North and South, detailing the difference of life between South England and North England during the Victorian Era. It's one fine production! The romance will sweep you away! Richard Armitage as John Thornton is just so hero worthy! *sigh*

A Sigh of Love Gets Five Hearts!
I'm thrilled to announce that my recent release, an Alaskan contemporary romance called "A Sigh of Love" has been getting some great reviews! I used to live in Alaska, and I've got a special fondness for this story. The beginning is based on true events...all the way up to the romance!
Night Owl Romance gives it Five Hearts and a Reviewer Top Pick!
Here is what the reviewer says:
“I absolutely loved this story. There was just something magical about it since it was set in Alaska. Having visited there a few years ago, its beauty just leaves a permanent image in your heart, mind and soul. Alaska was the perfect backdrop for this story and the characters were just so believable. I felt so bad for Abbie because she just seemed to be getting a bad deal all the time until she returned back to Alaska. It was as if Alaska helped her to find herself again. I would definitely recommend this story to others and I eagerly look forward to reading more stories from Ms. McBride.”

And The Romance Studio gives it 4.5/5 and a Sweetheart Win!
"I really enjoyed reading this book and found myself reading through the night because I just could not put it down. The sensual scenes were beautifully presented but were not explicit. The sex was alluded to, but not specific. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a good love story with great action. I believe that it will be a definite winner."

NovelTea Next Door
Book 2 in my NovelTea series (NovelTea Next Door) has been contracted for the Crimson or Romantic Suspense line. This story is about 4x the length of the original so I was able to delve a little bit more into the characters and develop a case for the Hero/Heroine to solve together. It is written in first person just like A Night of NovelTea except this time it comes from the hero’s perspective. Writing as a man for an entire story was a challenge but in the end I was very happy with how it turned out. It still has a light, fun tone along with the suspense. Here is the blurb for you:
Second in the NovelTea Series:
Government agent Grant Gerard knows he’s cocky. It’s the reason he can do this job day after day. He’s always kept his life simple and uncomplicated…until destiny took a turn when he met bookstore/tea shop owner Juliet Truesdale.
Armed with a new lead pertaining to known criminal spook, Alexis Guthrie, Grant enlists Juliet to aid the investigation which ends up at the door of her neighbor, Adam Trudeau. This investment banker neighbor of hers seems harmless enough despite his annoying interest in Juliet. Will this turn of events only usher in more dangerous or even deadly situations for the duo? Can Grant allow Juliet into his heart and keep her safe from the danger looming in the distance?
I have also started a new blog for the NovelTea Series. You can find it at: http://novelteaseries.blogspot.com/. I plan on posting something new every Friday. This is where you can keep up with this exciting romantic-comedy suspense series with excerpts and insight into the stories and characters.

I'M SHAKESPEARE
Which famous author/poet are you? created with QuizFarm.com | ||||||||||||||||||||
You scored as William Shakespeare You are most like William Shakespeare, considered to be the greatest writer in English. Mystery surrounds his life, but scholars know he had a wife and family, who was not around much because he was in London writing and directing plays at the famous Globe Theater, where he produced plays that everyone of any background could enjoy. His sonnets show his mastery of style. His plays show his insight into human nature, as he has created some of the greatest characters in all of literature. His works are too many to list, but some include "Hamlet," "MacBeth" and "Twelfth Night."

Do You Kindle?
I don't, at least not yet, but I have a feeling I'm falling in love...
I have to admit Amazon's Kindle does attract my attention. It's still a little expensive for me as yet, but I have it on my wish list and will keep an eye on the price, hoping that in a year or so it might go down. Don't tell me I'm wishful thinking, please, I couldn't bear it.
So anyway, I went to visit the Amazon Kindle page and found that Amazon have sold out of the little machine, which surpised me. I watched the little video and was very impressed with it's features, and Kindle was pushed up a bit higher on my wish list! :o)
I was even more impressed and surprised when I saw my historical WWII romance, Broken Hero, was available for Kindle. Does that make me no longer a Kindle virgin?
So if you do Kindle, drop me a line and let me know how you like it. I promise I'll not get too jealous.
hugs, Anne.~

I have my release date for OES & just signed another contract with TWRP :-)
;-).
I also signed another contract with The Wild Rose Press. Both me and my friend, Abbey Macinnis signed contracts for the fantastic Wayback Texas tales. Our heroines are sisters and their stories are intertwined, so our fantastic editor, Spencer Glenn, will be working with both of us.
Oh and we'll be moving next month too. So between edits on my Wayback Texas tale, Return of the Prodigal Daughter, and getting ready for the move, it'll be a busy few months before my first Wild Rose Press tale is released. I'm thrilled to be in the garden with such wonderful authors and editors though and I know my association with The Wild Rose Press will continue for many years
:-D.
