It's Release Day!
And the reviews are in...
"Lost in Paradise by Allie Boniface is an emotional love story that draws the reader in and keeps the pages turning as the couple overcomes obstacles on their journey to true love...[it] was a delight to read. I can recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a love story that brings an unlikely couple together - a couple that overcomes all odds to find the love they both deserve." - Devon, Fallen Angel Reviews
"Well written, with well developed characters...Lost in Paradise explores more than living life, but figuring out what one actually wants out of it...Ms. Boniface has given us a delightful contemporary romance." - The Long and the Short of It Romance Reviews
"Lost in Paradise follows a young woman's journey of discovery, of herself, what she wants, and the young man harboring his own tragedy who wants her...a terrific combination for lasting love...This is the first story I've read by Allie Boniface but it won't be the last." - The Romance Studio
Here's the trailer as well:
And lastly, 5 Fun Facts about Lost in Paradise...
1. Originally, the hero died at the end of this story (obviously, this was before I knew I was writing a romance)
2. Eddie West, said hero, is loosely based on a good friend of mine. And no, ladies, he's not married!
3. This was the first story I ever wrote, but I put it away for almost 3 years after I finished it, 'cause it had major plot problems and I didn't know how to fix them.
4. The scene in which Eddie saves a kitten turned into an article on characterization for WOW-Women on Writing's monthly ezine.
5. I originally wrote the entire novel in first person, the flavor of which is still preserved in the Epilogue.

Released today: "A Change of Heart"
This story was a challenge I made to myself. I wanted to take a cliche (the secret baby cowboy story) and set it on its ear a bit. That ear-setting was one of the first things my fantastic editor, Stacy, mentioned when she contracted the story. I hope you all enjoy it as well!
Blurb:
Returning to Wyoming after a six-year absence, Jake Langley finds more than just changes in the now run down family ranch. His warm feelings for a former girlfriend have cooled, and he finds himself drawn to her sister and his former best friend, Emily. His discovery of the sisters' well-kept secret, however, upsets his long-term plans and sets duty against his heart's desire. Now, four hearts and four lives will be changed, forever.
Excerpt:
When the bell over the ice cream shop entrance rang, Emily dried her hands on the towel hanging from her waist. She stepped through the doorway, a smile on her face. That smile froze as hard as a fresh bucket of ice cream at the sight before her.
Jacob Langley.
"Hey, Emily." He said it like it had been six days since the last time he'd seen her instead of nearly six years.
"Jake." Her throat was tight with fury and hurt and she could barely speak. "What do you want?"
"Some of that caramel peanut butter ice cream on a sugar cone if you don't mind." He flashed his best grin.
Did he think they were still best friends like they were all through school? Had he forgotten what he'd done to her? Worse, what he'd done to Casey? If he thought she'd let him stay in her place any longer, he was mistaken. "Sorry. We're all out." Emily's gaze never wavered, her smile didn't thaw.
"Funny, I'm looking at it right there in front of me." He pointed through the glass case.
She tapped a sign behind her. "Then I guess I'm exercising my rights."
He pursed his lips and read the bold, black words printed on the white board: We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason.
Even cooler? I already have TWO great reviews for this story!
Four Hearts from Maura at The Romance Studio:
The author of this story packed a lot of story into a small package and does it with great skill. The characters are very real, none of them too perfect or too evil. ... The author does a good job of reintroducing the characters to each other .... Bode is also a great character who realizes just how great Emily really is. He seems to be the one person who recognizes Em’s beauty without having it pointed out to him, making him the smartest person in the story in my opinion. The author does a wonderful job of describing small tourist town life as well.
Rated "A" and and Outstanding Read from Simply Romance Reviews:
I enjoyed reading this story right from the opening page! It’s a heart warming, moving and very enjoyable mild romance. Jake, the dashing cowboy every girl falls head over heels for, has a vulnerable side to him that makes him forgivingly lovable, no matter what his past holds. Emily, the elder sister of the two and a fiery redhead who still holds a grudge against him, keeps Jake’s feet firmly on the ground, and in more ways than one! And then there’s the lovely Casey, everything a man could wish for in a woman – but is she the one for him?
Hot without the sex? Definitely! Accuracy accounted for? Without a doubt! Wishing I had a cowboy like Jake to lie in the hay with? YES PLEASE!
A recommended read for sure with a wonderful storyline! Well done, Marianne!

Hi! I'm a new author with The Wild Rose Press and I'm happy to announce the release date of my English Tea Rose, Courting Trouble. (Isn't the cover gorgeous?)

WHAT'S IN A FANTASY?
WHAT'S IN A FANTASY?
I often wonder why we fantasize. Is it our brain's way of stimulating our consciousness to make us aware of our deep rooted desires? While trying to think of a blog topic for Fantasy Pages, my mind kept coming back to the blog's title~ FANTASY. Fantasy lovers, fantasy jobs, fantasy--well, you get the idea. The list could go on and on…
And then my mind turned another degree and I wondered about the fantasies I wove into my book, THE DOCTOR'S DECEPTION. My heroine Nurse Faith Daniels is obsessed with Godiva Chocolate. Well, anything chocolate will do, but Godiva is her favorite. Fortunately for her, my hero Dr. Stone Lassiter was born with brown eyes. Here's a chapter one excerpt that begins Faith's fantasy of the delectable Dr. Lassiter:
Faith's thoughts drifted back to Dr. Lassiter. An image of his hard, chocolate brown eyes rose before her. What would it be like to melt that chocolate? Faith shivered.
And from chapter three…
Her earlier thought returned. What would it be like to melt that chocolate? Too bad she didn't even own a fondu pot.
Just from those brief lines, the reader gets some really good insight into what this woman really desires deep inside. What happens when she acts on that fantasy? Well, you'll have to read to find out.
But what about my hero? What does the uptight Dr. Lassiter fantasize about? Well, Faith of course! Here's an excerpt from chapter nine that gives you a clue:
The breeze ruffled a few strands of pale blonde hair around her forehead. She pushed them out of her eyes, and he stared at the bow bobbing right between her breasts. Gaze lifting to the swell of her cleavage exposed by the deep neckline of the red blouse she wore, he bit back a groan.
Ever since she'd walked into her living room this morning, he'd had an itch to tug on the bow and un-wrap her like a Christmas present.
Stone only has one thing on his mind~sex. The tension he's feeling is palpable and by the end of the chapter he knows he's in big trouble where this woman is concerned.
As I read romance, I want to be completely lost in the fantasy of the world the author has built for me to delve into. It is one way that I can relieve my stress and leave my worries behind, if only for an hour or two. Which is another great reason for fantasizing.
Have you ever lived one of your fantasies? You know what I mean. Have you added a little spice to your romantic relationships? Ever dreamed of sky diving and then took that plunge? Attained the unattainable? I've always wondered about that. If you did, was the experience everything you'd expected? Was the sex hotter? Or did it grow cold? Did you jump from that plane or off that cliff only to fall flat?
There is that old saying, "be careful what you wish for…" I'm not much of a risk taker, so I'll just live my fantasies through my characters. But what about you?

Isn't it great? The sneaky little dog poking his head onto the cover is one of the main characters in the book. He's a Jack Russell Terrier and quite the little matchmaker. My hero and heroine don't stand a chance with him on the loose.
Hoofbeats and Heartstrings is a series of romance novels celebrating love, miracles and the beauty of horses. A portion of the proceeds from all the Hoofbeats & Heartstrings novels will go directly to help horses in need. Here is a little taste of Book One, Do You Hear What I Hear?, coming in time for Christmas 2008:
As a child, Simone Doolittle adores the European folktale that animals are given the gift of speech at midnight on Christmas Eve. She makes a wish to talk to animals “forever and ever” and, when her pet Dalmatian asks her for a biscuit, she discovers her wish has been granted. Now Simone is all grown up and she uses her unique gift to rehabilitate unwanted horses. When race horse trainer Chet Wallace rolls into San Antonio, with chocolate eyes and dimples blazing beneath his black Stetson, romantic sparks fly. He is immediately drawn to the beautiful woman who has a mesmerizing affect on both his horses and his dog, but his less than enthusiastic response to Simone’s claims threatens their budding romance. It takes a scheming Jack Russell terrier and a dose of Christmas magic to convince Chet she just may be telling the truth.

BLURB
Graduate student Levisa Harris is focused on finishing her Master’s thesis on Baltimore dialects, and she only needs one more volunteer to complete her study. After a homecoming game, she meets Sam Parker, a handsome man with an interesting accent...
But he’s not interested in being a “guinea pig.” An accounting major from the poor side of town, Sam soon finds out that his "Bawlamerese" is getting in the way of his career. Swallowing his pride, he agrees to be in Levisa’s study in exchange for free lessons. A dream job at a big accounting firm is within his reach, but only she can teach him proper speech—in four months!
Little does Levisa know that tutoring Sam will lead to passionate private lessons that take her breath away and teach her heart and body to speak the language of love.
EXCERPT
Baltimore Metropolitan University’s football stadium thundered with the footsteps of homecoming fans rushing to get out of the torrents of a heavy late November rain. Car horns honked, and revelers shouted a drunken chorus of “BMU BEAT YOU! WILDCATS RULE!”
Levisa Harris and her best friend, Claire, crowded under the eaves, pressed back against the closed concession stands with what seemed like hundreds of other fans who peered glumly out at the rain. A post-game ambiance of hot dogs and beer, mixed with the smell of wet wool, swirled around them. Hair soaked, Levisa attempted to push her flattened copper-colored curls out of her eyes and noted Claire’s short blonde hair hadn’t fared any better.
“We look like drowned Wildcats.” Levisa glanced at the unending rain and hoped it would stop soon.
Claire looked at her friend and laughed. “Thank God for hair dryers and flat irons.” A young man jostled up against the petite blonde. “Hello, I’m standing here!” Claire shouted.
“I know,” a man wearing a nautical windbreaker said with a soft southern drawl. “We came over to offer ya’ll a lift.”
Levisa spoke without thinking. “Richmond, Virginia.”
“Beg your pardon?” A look of surprise crossed his clean-shaven face.
“You’re from Richmond, right?” Levisa noted he was attractive in an old money, preppy kind of way, but he didn’t appeal to her at all.
“Yes, but how’d you know?” He leaned in a tad too close, expelling beery breath as he spoke.
Levisa leaned away, seeking fresh air as Claire spoke up. “She’s an expert on accents.”
“Parlor tricks! Oh, this is fun!” the Virginian said. “Sam, say something.”
“Chip, we need ta go.” Sam’s deep voice held a note of irritation. “I have ta study fer my CPA exam.”
“Baltimore—Pigtown.” Levisa looked at Sam with interest, and not just because of his accent. High forehead, half-covered with a shock of black-brown hair. A long straight nose. Full lips. A small scar curved around his strong chin. She touched the scar on her own chin and wondered if he had fallen off his bicycle as a child, too. She pulled herself up short. Stop thinking about how adorable he is. Focus on the brass ring: finish the research project, graduate, and get a good job. “You’d be perfect for my Speech-Language Pathology Master’s research project.”
“I ain’t no guinea pig.” Sam pulled at Chip’s arm.
“One quick question—Sam, is it?” He turned and faced Levisa directly, towering over her, his broad shoulders and wide chest straining at his ratty sweatshirt. An image of him without his shirt, all rippling muscles, flashed into her mind. She forced herself to look directly into his deep-set, dark chocolate eyes, swallowed hard, and asked the sixty-four-thousand-dollar question. “How far do you think you’ll get with that accent in an accounting firm?”
Sam’s face flushed. “I’m really good at numbers. That’s what matters in bidness.”
He was so good-looking. But he wouldn’t be hired, much less promoted, with that accent. Why didn’t he get it? Frustrated, she heard herself blurt out, “What company wants a CEO who sounds like a hick?”
He glowered at her. “Yew callin’ me a hick?”
Claire stepped between Sam and Levisa. “Please don’t be offended. She’s saying she can help you get a better job—if you reduce that Bawlamer accent, Hon!”
“It’s not nice ta make fun of people,” Sam said and grabbed Chip’s arm. “Let’s go.”
She felt short of breath, as if she’d run up a flight of stairs, instead of standing here, arguing with this hardheaded man. “If you change your mind,” Levisa shouted after him, “come to the Speech, Language, and Hearing Clinic. It’s in the middle of campus.”
As the two men walked off, collars pulled up against the wind, Claire turned to her friend. “You know, he’s not half-bad looking.”
“Chip? The preppy? Not my type.” Levisa watched the two men climb into an old Ford Taurus and focused on the back of Sam’s head and the way his dark hair tapered down his neck.
“No, the other one. Sam. Those dreamy brown eyes, that wavy black hair. Whew!” Claire fanned her face. “I’d love to give him a few private lessons, if you know what I mean!”
“Put a lid on your id, girl!” Levisa laughed and shook her head in an attempt to dispel her own disturbing responses to Sam. “I don’t have time for a man in my life. If I don’t finish my research, I won’t graduate in spring. All I need is one more Pigtown subject for the study and I’ll be done. Too bad he’s the one that got away!”
