Is it Christian or is it Inspirational?

Is there a difference between 'Christian' and 'Inspirational' romance?

Many people use the terms interchangeably, but as an author of "Inspirational with an Edge!" romantic/women's fiction - there is a difference.

Want to learn more?

Join me on the Cata Network Writers Loop, May 12 - 14 for an in-depth discussion on the differences between a 'Christian' and 'Inspirational' romance novel.

The Life & Times of A Writer

Hello Again Friends!

If you read my post, A Day in the Life of This Writer, you got a glimpse of my daily schedule. I guess you could say this post is an extension of that one.

Every author is encouraged, no-expected, to promote themselves and their work. “People buy authors!” is the chorus of many industry experts.

Some may wonder how to go about promoting oneself. Interviews, guest blogging, and chats are just a few of the means by which I do this. But, once scheduled, how do you let people know what’s happening?

Although I post information in different ways, this question has haunted me. Even if I announce to different Yahoo groups, MySpace, Shoutlife and other venues, it is virtually impossible to let everyone know!

Well, I may have come up with a little better, somewhat more efficient means to let people know what’s happening and where I’ll be.

Today, I want to share with you my new Schedule of Events.

Posted at my personal blog, is a list of interviews, guest blogs, and other events happening in my writing career at sites that may interest you….not just because I’m there LOL! but because these are interesting places to visit.

Well friends, that’s about all for now!

Until later…take care, God Bless and remember….YOU Are somebody’s hero.

A Day in the Life of This Writer

Hello Again!

Everyone tells us writers that readers want to know more than your books; they want to know about your life. So here’s an example of my weekday:

4 am – Get up, make coffee, check email then work on edits, new story or promotion.

7:30 am – Take shower, get dressed and leave house by 8.

8:00 am – 6:00 pm work 8 of those 10 hours at my day job as an Insurance Sales Producer, the other hour is traveling time and of course one hour for lunch (about my only real time to relax!)

6 – 8 or 9 pm Write, edit, promote – take an occasional night off to watch a movie with hubby or read.

Weekends – basically follow above procedures except during 8am – 6pm in lieu of going off to work, I spend the majority of those hours writing, editing or promoting.

I do, however, take time off to spend with hubby and/or granddaughter and when the occasion arises, extended family.

Oh, of course, I take time to attend church services on a semi-regular basis. Prayer time? Unceasingly with occasional spurts during my day for longer conversations with the Lord (hello-I get an hour for lunch). J

Is this crazy or what!?

If you read my last post you’ll see that I’ve been writing for more than 25 years and for that entire time, this has been my routine (even when writing in 5-subject notebooks). The exception was when I worked different shifts at a local hospital…during those years (when on evening shift), I wrote from about 7:30 am until 1pm then got ready in order to be to work @ 2:30.

About the only time I really take a break is when we go off on vacation…and then I still manage to at least check email at least once-a-day.

I’ve often considered purchasing a laptop, however knowing myself so well, if I did, I’d NEVER rest and probably end up a divorced recluse LOL!

Why do we writers put ourselves through this?

As with most authors, that answer is multi-faceted. Though “with an edge,” I write inspirational, therefore I write to glorify God and to get His message of love, hope, faith, trust and forgiveness to a hurting world. But no matter for what other reasons an author may write, they all boil down to one main focus: You – Dear Readers!

So the next time you pick up a book from your favorite author….realize what goes into that story (besides our heart and soul).

Well that's my day in a nutshell.

Until later, take care, God BLESS! and remember...YOU are somebody's hero!

Who Am I?

As a writer I'm told that readers want to know more about me than my book titles so here's a glimpse of who I am. :-)
I've always been an avid reader, from Dr. Seuss before school age, to Walter Farley's "Black Stallion" series as a preteen, then on to romance where I found my passion. Mainstream, contemporary, historical...it did not matter. If it was a romance, I read it! They say 'don't judge a book by its cover' but I refused to listen....if it looked good, I read it.

One day while pregnant with my daughter I flung the book I currently attempted to devour in disgust and muttered, "I can do better than that!" I'm still not sure if the book was really that bad or if I merely had a hormonal moment, but thus began my writing journey.

That incident occurred more than twenty-five years ago and I must say I, as an author as well as a human being, have evolved a great deal in a quarter of a century.

For years I was a closet writer who wrote in 5-subject notebooks, shy and afraid of what people would think. I had no idea that there were rules to writing or anything similar. I simply wrote as the characters and story unfolded in my mind. Once I bought my first word processor, my secret was out. The one defining moment when I thought I just may be on to something was when my mother, also an avid reader but a sports fanatic, missed the Super Bowl to read my manuscript. If you know any sports fanatics you'll know that it takes something very special or drastic to pull them away from that game.

I've come a long way since those years as a closet writer. Today I am multi-published in romantic fiction and creative non-fiction. My writing has won awards such as Coeur de Louisianne’s 1999 Diamond in the Rough and their 2000 Ruby and in 2001 I earned my RWA Pro Pin.

My short stories have received awards such as Reviewers Top Pick from Night Owl Romance & Recommended Read from My Book Cravings

My non-fiction has been featured in publications such as Cross & Quill, Fellow Script, and Vocational Biographies and much of it can be found online at Associated Content
I’ve also contributed to publications such as Bylines Writers Desk Calendar, Crumbs in the Keyboard; Stories from Courageous Women Who Juggle Life & Writing and Penned from the Heart Daily Devotionals (volumes xi, xiii, & xiv)

Who Am I?

Iam Pamela S Thibodeaux and I write "Inspirational with an Edge!" romantic fiction and creative non-fiction.

Choices Available NOW!

Well Folks,

The day finally arrived!

The story revolves around songwriter/novelist Cami Rogers who has penned numerous accounts of the secret love she holds in her heart and Country Music Superstar, Kip Allen who has changed from the shy, humble boy she knew in highschool to the epitome of "star."

Can the two rediscover each other after one night of his Home is where the Heart is Tour?

Here's an excerpt:

Camie's heart throbbed with excitement as she waited to be escorted to her seat. She'd won a front-row seat and backstage passes to the biggest concert of the year. Country Music superstar Kip Allen had come home!

Everyone ranted and raved about the homegrown country boy who had made it big—three albums in five years, all gold. Camie remembered the shy, humble guy with rusty-gold hair and sea-green eyes who came to life when he had a guitar in his hands.

Her mind wandered back to high-school days and the many times he could be found on the outdoor patio where students congregated during lunch and break times, strumming his guitar and crooning a song, with girls gathered around him like bees to a hive.

Now look; the little amphitheatre which usually hosted a live radio broadcast of French music and humor was packed wall-to-wall with people who’d watched Kip grow up, and then make it to the Big Time.

He’d been on the road for more than a year during his Home is Where the Heart is tour—even had his parents flown out to meet him at Thanksgiving and Christmas, but his final performance was here, in his hometown of Eunice, Louisiana on Valentines Day. Perfect ending to the tour, Camie mused, if home truly is where his heart is.

Seasons Greetings!

Just wanted to drop by and wish EVERYONE a BLESSED and Happy Holiday Season with a poem or two.....

From My Heart to Yours
In this season of giving and good cheer, I've a message for all to hear!
Good news and glad tidings sent to all men, for a Savior was born in the town of Bethlehem.
Christ the Lord came down to earth, born in a manger, from holy to lowly by birth.
Throughout His life He chose to live right, to be and example of God's power and might.
To die on a cross in just a few years, but never FEAR!
For in victory He rose from that awful grave.
To give Life to all those He came to save.
So in this time of giving and season of cheer...Remember, Christ is to be praised all through the year.
MERRY CHRISTMAS and Happy New Year!

The Gift
No gift ever given, great or small
can compare to greatest Treasure of all.

Born in a manger in the town of Bethlehem
Christ the Lord, who died for all men.

Sometimes referred to as the ‘Pearl of Great Price’
God so loved the world that He sent His Son to die
- the perfect sacrifice.

So please remember in this season of cheer
God is to be honored and praised
each day of the year.

This simple poem is my humble gift
to wish you Merry Christmas!

Holidays are Holy Days!
As we journey through this special time of year
We give Thanks, share Joy and spread lots of Cheer
Let us keep in mind that life is a gift and offer God praise
And always remember to keep the holidays, Holy Days.

Okay, that's three LOL!
Regardless of what you believe or how you celebrate, please remember to keep your holidays, Holy Days!
