Their feelings for each other grow stronger, but neither is willing to admit this. Christabel knows she cannot give her love to Declan until she has told him her secret, but she is afraid he will treat her revelation with scorn.

Love, Lilies, and the Unbroken Straw is a sweet, sensitive story which shows the full range of Christabel’s feelings for her amazing gift, the horses and most of all Declan. Christabel is a warm, vibrant woman who at first appears to be shy and retiring, but Declan brings out the best in her. As their relationship develops she shows the strength she usually hides from the world. The Yellow Rose of Texas Equine Rescue Center provides a warm, comfortable backdrop to the triangle of love developing between Christabel, Declan and the horses in need of their help.

Although the setting is Texas with its hot summers, I would recommend this book be read beside a warm fire with a cup of hot chocolate on the table within easy reach. It’s the type of story which leaves a satisfied, warm feeling inside so it’s essential to find a comfortable place to settle before starting to read Love, Lilies, and the Unbroken Straw."

I was totally charmed by this book from the first page. Teri Wilson creates a wonderful slate of characters, human, canine and equine, that grab your heart and won’t let go. Do You Hear What I Hear? was well developed and the perfect reading choice for the holiday season when we all need a break from the hustle and bustle and long to curl up in a soft corner with a steaming cup of cocoa and a heartwarming read. I loved the unique career that Simone had developed for herself and enjoyed all the scenes about the horse rescue ranch. While part of a series, this book stands alone.

Simone Littleton was considered mainly a quack by all the trainers at the racetrack. Being an Equine Massage Therapist, she used her skills along with a combination of massage oils and herbs to calm down even the most stressed- out horse. Her personal life was complicated and men usually didn't like her kind of complicated. While she did work for racer Trent Jones, everyone else laughed at her constantly.


Chet Wallace owned racehorses and was not looking for anything but a winning horse. No time for anything else but training and he is not about to put up with the "Crazy Horse Lady" tending to his prized horses. His dog, Pollock, has other ideas.


You see, Simone's little secret is that she can talk to animals. It has made her the laughing-stock of the track and has not been helpful in getting new clients. When Chet yells at her in front of everyone for not telling him her secret, it breaks her heart. The path to Simone's heart is through her work with horses and the path to Chet's is the same.
