Deidre's Secret

My cover is now available!!! Isn't it great???

When Deidre Roux has premonitions of danger, watch out! Faced with thwarting bank robbers and protecting others from the high school bully, she must reveal her secret to her new friend, Mark Cummings. Can she convince him that she truly sees a world of imminent danger headed their way before it’s too late?
Not only must Mark deal with his girlfriend’s premonitions, which he has a hard time believing, but his convicted uncle has returned home. Humor, suspense and conflict rule the day as Deidre’s crazy aunt tries to write a true crime story on Mark's uncle. Deidre attempts to keep her out of it before she gets mixed up in a much darker business of robberies and murder—her own, if she’s not careful.
What do you think of the cover? I couldn't be more thrilled!!!

Excellent review for Broken Hero!

A lovely review for my WWII historical romance, Broken Hero.

Review snippet:
'Broken Hero' produces a rich, cohesive view of a few lives during the turbulent war years, and also gives us a hint of life before the war. The writing invites us to read slowly, understand the individuals' histories, and savor the story. Foremost; this is a really beautiful romance.Full review here:

THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL

I'm almost done with See Megan Run. Did you hear my sigh of relief? I started writing this book in October. Around the same time I received my first contract with The Wild Rose Press. Outside of doing my edits on How Much You Want to Bet? I've been writing on this novel. Yup, folks that six straight months on the SAME story.

Long story, short. This will not be a book I'd take with me on a deserted island. But you can still pick it up when it comes out, because frankly it's great.

And you know if you still haven't picked up How Much You Want to Bet? You can get it here.

Aww, come on, you know you saw that one coming.

Fear of Failure

I went on a rampage last year and wrote four novels. Now that they've been contracted, I'm finally working on a new novel. But, the process is painful, tortorously so. I'm so worried that now that I've published, everything else I create will never measure up. Even so, I force myself to write at least one page a day, but it's like trying to squeeze blood from a turnip, to use a shopworn line.

Any of you other pubbed authors feel that way?

The Life & Times of A Writer

Hello Again Friends!

If you read my post, A Day in the Life of This Writer, you got a glimpse of my daily schedule. I guess you could say this post is an extension of that one.

Every author is encouraged, no-expected, to promote themselves and their work. “People buy authors!” is the chorus of many industry experts.

Some may wonder how to go about promoting oneself. Interviews, guest blogging, and chats are just a few of the means by which I do this. But, once scheduled, how do you let people know what’s happening?

Although I post information in different ways, this question has haunted me. Even if I announce to different Yahoo groups, MySpace, Shoutlife and other venues, it is virtually impossible to let everyone know!

Well, I may have come up with a little better, somewhat more efficient means to let people know what’s happening and where I’ll be.

Today, I want to share with you my new Schedule of Events.

Posted at my personal blog, is a list of interviews, guest blogs, and other events happening in my writing career at sites that may interest you….not just because I’m there LOL! but because these are interesting places to visit.

Well friends, that’s about all for now!

Until later…take care, God Bless and remember….YOU Are somebody’s hero.

A Day in the Life

I used to have a typical day as a writer. I'd send my son off to school and then spend my morning working on a fiction project or on an article for the newspaper I work for. Then life interfered big time - in the past six months, my mom became seriously ill and ultimately had to be moved out of our home and into assisted living. My son, who has Asperger's Syndrome, was disturbed by the change in routine and his behavior began to regress. My husband took a temporary promotion at work and he wasn't able to be there as much for me. Writing became a distant memory as I struggled just to get through each crisis-filled day.

Then came the biggest disruption to my routine - the news that The Wild Rose Press was going to buy my chick noir novel, Thirty-Nine Again. That's when writing really became difficult. Because then I started spending all my time working with TWRP's Rae Monet on my sexy and fantastic book cover. She also designed a more professional-looking website for me. I researched romance book review sites and magazines and made a list of their advertising packages, and I printed up bookmarks for a luncheon held by a romance writers' organization to which I belong. And of course, I talked everyone's ear off about how excited I was by the news that I would be published.

Now two months have passed and because of a series of unforeseen circumstances, I've had a couple of editor changes. Currently, I don't even know who my next editor will be - much less when my book will be published. But today I realized this is a good thing. It's going to force me to refocus my mental energy on doing something I haven't been doing much of lately - writing something new.

Writing is such a solitary occupation, it's easy to go off into tangents. All too often, we say we write when what we really do is surf the net, read emails, and blog. The good thing about being a writer is that every day is different, because every story is different. The bad thing is that it's all too easy to just put that story aside and not write it at all.  So now I'm resolved to get back to that typical day I used to have - a day spent writing. And I don't mean emails. Or even blogs!

End of a String, my new story, released today Apr 9

My new story, End of a String, released today, April 9. To potential downloaders, the woman on the cover is not the woman in the story. Natalie Adams is a brilliant electrical engineering student, beautiful but initially hateful to Slim Canton. Set in the late 1950s, Slim is on scholastic probation after flunking calculus but he is smitten by Natalie despite her not liking him. So it is to his advantage that Natalie wouldn't give him the time of day so he can concentrate on his studies. However, when she relents and agrees to help him with calculus one evening, his hopes soar. He really wants to pursue a relationship with Natalie. At the end of the help session, Slim takes a desperate step, hoping to see Natalie again on a date. Their mutual interest: roller skating. After several dates at a local roller rink Natalie proclaims to Slim that he is the end of a string of boy friends she's had. Slim couldn't be happier.

My thanks to my editor, Nancy Swanson, for helping me interject more 1950s scenes in this story to make it in keeping with around 1957. I'll post an excerpt in a later blog.

A Day in the Life of This Writer

I admire you folks who work so diligently from a schedule. I keep thinking I'll develop one, but as yet, even after seven years of retirement, haven't. Every morning I sit down at the computer, check my emails, my loops, my stat counter, etc. Some days I go from there to writing and get a lot done. Other days, life interferes and I'm running here and there buying groceries, keeping doctor appointments, meeting friends for lunch, and working in the yard. And, I read a lot. Life hasn't always been this way. I taught in public school for thirty years and not being an early riser, my writing was done at night.

Our children are grown, so I don't have to stop work and cook. My husband is easy to please and will eat a sandwich or something from our neighborhood fast food places. I know, I'm very fortunate.

Nothing motivates me more than a note from my editor. I know most people don't like edits, but I enjoy them. Plus, I see them as one step closer to a pub date. My Minature Cactus Rose A Law Of Her Own is my first work with The Wild Rose Press. I don't have a pub date yet, but to read an excerpt, go to my website at http://www.lindalaroque.com/ I've dedicated it to my mother. Her name was Rose and she would have loved this story. I can almost hear her chuckling now.

The Day in the Life of a Writer...

The dream begins at 5 am, I sit down at my pub table with a cup of coffee and work on my latest project… by 7:30 I’m headed out the door to my pesky day job…

Today it was in black shoes, black socks, navy slacks…but I did remember to comb my hair and brush my teeth.

In the evening after a stroll with the neighbor, it’s back to keystrokes…
I love having people read my stories… to me it’s all about entertaining.

If I had nicer legs – I might have been a dancer, but since I can’t hear I beat,
I spin tales…

Want to read more – stop by my blog or better yet … purchase some short stories to tide you over until the “novel” comes out….

A Day in the Life of This Writer

Hello Again!

Everyone tells us writers that readers want to know more than your books; they want to know about your life. So here’s an example of my weekday:

4 am – Get up, make coffee, check email then work on edits, new story or promotion.

7:30 am – Take shower, get dressed and leave house by 8.

8:00 am – 6:00 pm work 8 of those 10 hours at my day job as an Insurance Sales Producer, the other hour is traveling time and of course one hour for lunch (about my only real time to relax!)

6 – 8 or 9 pm Write, edit, promote – take an occasional night off to watch a movie with hubby or read.

Weekends – basically follow above procedures except during 8am – 6pm in lieu of going off to work, I spend the majority of those hours writing, editing or promoting.

I do, however, take time off to spend with hubby and/or granddaughter and when the occasion arises, extended family.

Oh, of course, I take time to attend church services on a semi-regular basis. Prayer time? Unceasingly with occasional spurts during my day for longer conversations with the Lord (hello-I get an hour for lunch). J

Is this crazy or what!?

If you read my last post you’ll see that I’ve been writing for more than 25 years and for that entire time, this has been my routine (even when writing in 5-subject notebooks). The exception was when I worked different shifts at a local hospital…during those years (when on evening shift), I wrote from about 7:30 am until 1pm then got ready in order to be to work @ 2:30.

About the only time I really take a break is when we go off on vacation…and then I still manage to at least check email at least once-a-day.

I’ve often considered purchasing a laptop, however knowing myself so well, if I did, I’d NEVER rest and probably end up a divorced recluse LOL!

Why do we writers put ourselves through this?

As with most authors, that answer is multi-faceted. Though “with an edge,” I write inspirational, therefore I write to glorify God and to get His message of love, hope, faith, trust and forgiveness to a hurting world. But no matter for what other reasons an author may write, they all boil down to one main focus: You – Dear Readers!

So the next time you pick up a book from your favorite author….realize what goes into that story (besides our heart and soul).

Well that's my day in a nutshell.

For more information about my life and writing visit my website and/or blog and sign up for my mailing list!

Until later, take care, God BLESS! and remember...YOU are somebody's hero!

Isanne's Revelation

Hello, tomorrow, The Wild Rose Press will be releasing my inspirational romance, Isanne's Revelation.
Lynda at Simply Romance Reviews did a review of this short story. I hope you'll have a look. Thanks, and take care, everyone. I wish you well. :) -Laura Hogg

Synopsis:

Symon de Burgh is a knight in the fourteenth century. His family has taken ill with the Plague, and he is desperate to save them. His faith has been tested, and he carries serious doubts. But God sometimes answers prayers in highly unusual ways. An adventure to the future will lead Symon to a place where his faith or lack of it will make all the difference.

SRR GRADE: B+

Here's a snippet of the review:
Truly Isanne’s Revelation is a wonderful heartwarming story of faith. The true feelings of the characters are realistic from the deep sorrow that Symon experiences to the angry refusal to forgive that Isanne carries around with her. But with their faith in God they learn that all things are possible.

Read and Help a Cause

My idea of exercise is thirty minutes on a recumbent bike with iTunes music in my ears and a book in my hands. My daughter is involved with Team in Training, a fundraising effort for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I applaud her efforts, especially since she participates in half-ironman triathlons. I was impressed last year when she completed the race, but what amazes me is that she’s going to do it AGAIN, and as a trainer as well.

In support, I (of course) donate to the cause. This year, in addition to my normal donation, I’m going to kick in additional funds for every one of my books and short stories sold between now and May 1st, and I’m inviting you to help. If you email me copies of your order confirmations from any source—the publisher, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Fictionwise – doesn’t matter. I’ll add $1.00 for every novel and fifty cents for every short story sold during this timeframe. This is your chance to enjoy a good read and help a good cause. Whether you choose one of my two new Wild Rose Press releases, Hurricane Breeze and Second Chance Rose, or go all the way back to Words, the first contracted WRP short story, you'll know you're doing more than enjoying a good read.

Note: This is a personal donation and in no way represents an endorsement from my publishers.

FORMERLY KNOWN AS OVERWORKED AND UNDERLAID

Yup, it's me again. Out of publishing limbo and loving it. My little book that could is even on the Bestseller list for my line. Who would have thought? (Of course I hoped and prayed) But I'm not here to talk about that fabulous book that has so far received fabulous reviews. (Well, only two, but that's neither here or there.) I'm here to talk about the book once called Overworked and Underlaid.

It started out as a germ of an idea. Then it blossomed into three chapters. Then I lost the notebook I had penned those first three chapters in. I didn't forget about the idea, but I kept typing away(really revising and revising and revising) on How Much You Want to Bet?

But then I got the chance to write this story. (Okay, I was freaking out, going over edits for How Much You Want to Bet? and waiting for more. I had nothing but free time to spaz out. So I used the time to distract myself.) I didn't remember all the details of the story, but I had a title and the opening scene. This story had been simmering for close to a year. So I penned that sucker in three months. And now, voila

Oh, the title change, well, it was a little racy. But trust me the sex scenes live up to that title.

Here's a blurb:
A rock and a hard place has nothing on Megan Hazley when she agrees to stay for her mother's wedding. Nicole aka Mommie Dearest isn't Megan's only obstacle to getting the deed to her deceased father's home; her ex-boyfriend, Aiden Blake, is the best man. Time hasn’t lessened the spark between them, a spark that should have died the day she hitched hiked out of “Boondock”, U.S.A.

Megan must deal with the troubles she left behind 12 years ago and choose between the man she once loved and the life she built for herself.

Who said going home was easy?

I know since you've read How Much You Want to Bet? You can't wait for this one to be released. Well, you're going to have to wait for me to finish spazing out on edits. But if you don't have How Much You Want to Bet? You can get it here. Just a little something to tide you over.

Melissa Blue and I'm out.

Vortex to the Ojibwa

Wed March 26th is the day I've been dreaming of since I was 5 and I sat in front of a manual typewriter and wrote a story about kids who solved a mystery from clues left in an ancient oak tree.
The years have passed, the stories have changed and the writing has improved.
Yes, my book Vortex to the Ojibwa is coming out in e-print. The story of time-traveling teens who visit an Indian encampment was based in part of a cenote found near my cottage in Parry Sound.
When a friend's son climbed down inside it, he found an arrow head from the pre-historic age.
The story almost wrote itself.
I hope you read it and enjoy it.

Rank Tracer - Are You Using It?

If you have a print book for sale on Amazon, you probably know about your Amazon sales ranking. In fact, you might even be a little obsessed by it! It's that number that every product has, which falls somewhere between 1 (if you're Nora Roberts) and 2,000,000 (if your book just went up and no one's had a chance to buy it yet).

The lower the number, the better your sales are. Besides giving you a rough idea of what your sales might be, it can also show you if a particular marketing/advertising strategy has worked. See your number go down one day? Did you just place a banner ad on a well-known site? Or do an interview, or a reading somewhere?

Is you don't have time to constantly check your rank, though, here's a site you might find useful. I stumbled upon it over the weekend and am impressed with what I see so far. RankTracer will trace any number of products for you, and create daily/weekly/monthly charts that show your sales ups and downs. They'll also include estimated sales, based on your rank number. Just a bit of an easier way to keep track of your sales and marketing efforts, I think.

Plus their customer service is awesome. It costs only $2/month per product to trace, but if you blog about them or put a link on your website, they'll start you off with a couple of months free. Check it out - I'm liking it so far!

Who Am I?

As a writer I'm told that readers want to know more about me than my book titles so here's a glimpse of who I am. :-)
I've always been an avid reader, from Dr. Seuss before school age, to Walter Farley's "Black Stallion" series as a preteen, then on to romance where I found my passion. Mainstream, contemporary, historical...it did not matter. If it was a romance, I read it! They say 'don't judge a book by its cover' but I refused to listen....if it looked good, I read it.

One day while pregnant with my daughter I flung the book I currently attempted to devour in disgust and muttered, "I can do better than that!" I'm still not sure if the book was really that bad or if I merely had a hormonal moment, but thus began my writing journey.

That incident occurred more than twenty-five years ago and I must say I, as an author as well as a human being, have evolved a great deal in a quarter of a century.

For years I was a closet writer who wrote in 5-subject notebooks, shy and afraid of what people would think. I had no idea that there were rules to writing or anything similar. I simply wrote as the characters and story unfolded in my mind. Once I bought my first word processor, my secret was out. The one defining moment when I thought I just may be on to something was when my mother, also an avid reader but a sports fanatic, missed the Super Bowl to read my manuscript. If you know any sports fanatics you'll know that it takes something very special or drastic to pull them away from that game.

I've come a long way since those years as a closet writer. Today I am multi-published in romantic fiction and creative non-fiction. My writing has won awards such as Coeur de Louisianne’s 1999 Diamond in the Rough and their 2000 Ruby and in 2001 I earned my RWA Pro Pin.

My short stories have received awards such as Reviewers Top Pick from Night Owl Romance & Recommended Read from My Book Cravings

My non-fiction has been featured in publications such as Cross & Quill, Fellow Script, and Vocational Biographies and much of it can be found online at Associated Content
I’ve also contributed to publications such as Bylines Writers Desk Calendar, Crumbs in the Keyboard; Stories from Courageous Women Who Juggle Life & Writing and Penned from the Heart Daily Devotionals (volumes xi, xiii, & xiv)

Who Am I?

Iam Pamela S Thibodeaux and I write "Inspirational with an Edge!" romantic fiction and creative non-fiction.

WILDCARD by, Robin Shope

The news is alive with reports on the
candidates campaigning to be
the next President of the United States.
Whoever wins
will help determine policy
both nationally and abroad.
The stakes have never been higher.
What would happen if someone
secured a microchip that
could be manipulated to give
his or her candidate
the edge to win the next
presidential election?
Not enough votes for a landslide,
but just enough to put their candidate over
the top in a decisive win.
It’s Ivy Dillon’s last week
as a Washington Intern.
She and Ms. Geneen Waters,
the secretary
to the President of the United States,
overhear a conversation
about voting machines
and missing software.
Months later Ms. Waters body is found
in the Potomac River.
Special Agent Ian Serby
swears he will give his life to protect her
& takes Ivy into protective FBI custody.
Ian is smart, sexy and seems to
have a hidden agenda all his own.
Will Ivy follow her heart and believe
what Ian tells her
or is he one of the Wildcards,
a group of maverick agents
who wants to take over the outcome
of who the next President
of the United States will be?
With her life in danger,
Ivy hops the first bus out of Chicago
and takes it south to Austin, Texas
where she blends in to college life
and takes a new identity.
A timely political book.
Romantically charged.

My very first review!!

I am so stoked.

Sometimes, you know--when you write, you kind of wonder if anyone (well, other than your critique partner) is ever going to say, "Hey, that was good." Guess I was stressing. My first romantic suspense, Hot Contract, came out the other day--all thanks to my fabulous editor, Laura. And I got a review.

It might only be "a" review. But it's a spiffy keen, utterly fabulous review, and I love it to death. I'm going to frame it and hang it on my wall. (I'm such a noob, lol)

    North and South!

Here's a video I found on You Tube from the screen adaptation of Elizabeth Gaskell's North and South, detailing the difference of life between South England and North England during the Victorian Era. It's one fine production! The romance will sweep you away! Richard Armitage as John Thornton is just so hero worthy! *sigh*

A Sigh of Love Gets Five Hearts!

I'm thrilled to announce that my recent release, an Alaskan contemporary romance called "A Sigh of Love" has been getting some great reviews! I used to live in Alaska, and I've got a special fondness for this story. The beginning is based on true events...all the way up to the romance!

Night Owl Romance gives it Five Hearts and a Reviewer Top Pick!

Here is what the reviewer says:

“I absolutely loved this story. There was just something magical about it since it was set in Alaska. Having visited there a few years ago, its beauty just leaves a permanent image in your heart, mind and soul. Alaska was the perfect backdrop for this story and the characters were just so believable. I felt so bad for Abbie because she just seemed to be getting a bad deal all the time until she returned back to Alaska. It was as if Alaska helped her to find herself again. I would definitely recommend this story to others and I eagerly look forward to reading more stories from Ms. McBride.”

The rest of the review: http://www.nightowlromance.com/nightowlromance/reviews/Review.asp?ReviewId=1333

And The Romance Studio gives it 4.5/5 and a Sweetheart Win!

"I really enjoyed reading this book and found myself reading through the night because I just could not put it down. The sensual scenes were beautifully presented but were not explicit. The sex was alluded to, but not specific. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a good love story with great action. I believe that it will be a definite winner."

Hey to everyone out there! I have a book coming out later this year titled, Fixing Forever Broken. It's my first novel with TWRP and would appreciate insights on what the editing process is like, how much marketing you all have done, and how long you have been writing, etc. I want to meet some writers! Hope to hear from some other newbies and some veterans as well.

    Coming Soon: "Pigmalion"

I'm pleased to announce that my new story, "Pigmalion," will be released on April 23, 2008. Thanks to Nancy Swanson for excellent editing and Nicola Martinez for a beautiful--and hot cover! Here's a teaser to put this thirty-three page, spicy short story on your to-buy list.

Graduate student Levisa Harris is focused on finishing her Master’s thesis on Baltimore dialects, and only needs one more volunteer to complete her study. After a homecoming game, she meets Sam Parker, a handsome man with an interesting accent. But he’s not interested in being a “guinea pig.” An accounting major from the poor side of town, Sam soon finds out that his "Bawlamerese" is getting in the way of his career.

Swallowing his pride, he agrees to be in Levisa’s study in exchange for free lessons. A dream job at a big accounting firm is within his reach, but only if she can teach him proper speech—in four months! Little does Levisa know that tutoring Sam will lead to passionate private lessons that take her breath away and teach her heart and body to speak the language of love.

    Life Imitates Art...Really, It Does!

Isn’t it interesting how life can imitate art?

In looking at the recent debacle of New York State’s government, namely Eliot Spitzer’s admittance to participating in a prostitution ring, the similarities between the news, and my own novel, Lost in Paradise, are a little uncanny.

    1. Spitzer is a prominent, well-liked elected gov’t official who is suddenly, and shockingly, caught in a sex scandal. In Lost in Paradise, the heroine’s father, a prominent, well-liked elected gov’t official, is suddenly and shockingly caught in a sex-and-drugs-scandal.

    2. Spitzer has a wife and three daughters, all of whom (right now, anyway) are standing in support of him. In Lost in Paradise, the debauched senator has a wife and three daughters, all of whom (except the heroine) stand in support of him.

OK, that’s pretty much where the similarities end. From there, Lost in Paradise follows our heroine, Ash, as she tries to make a new life for herself somewhere far away from the mess. In doing so, though, she faces the same issues that will inevitably face the Spitzer family: how do you move on from such a horrible infidelity? How do you recreate a life for yourself? And what details about your past will you keep hidden as you forge a future?

As a romance reader, you know that Lost in Paradise will promise you a happy ending…but aren’t you curious to see how it parallels some of what’s happening in New York politics right now? Take a peek at the trailer:

A great review for Broken Hero!

Broken Hero was a wonderfully sweet story.  It pulled on my heartstrings and brought tears to my eyes.  I couldn’t have asked for more heart warming characters which you couldn’t help but suffer with and cheer for.  If you are looking for a story that will make you feel deeply and leave with you with the truth that love conquers all, then you shouldn’t miss Broken Hero!

Hello and a cover from new author Tori Anne!

    Hello everyone!

I am so thrilled to be a freshly contracted rose!

I just received my cover art and I am BESIDE MYSELF with joy! Crafted by exceedingly talented Cover artist: Nicola Martinez. Look at the 'Museum Tag' she included at the bottom, isn't that genius?

PASSION AT AN EXHIBITION, release date TBA, will be released as a Miniature American Rose.

Set in 1890's New York City at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, this story stems out of my obsession with the 19th Century and allowed me a chance to frolic back in time in my hometown of New York City at one of my favorite locales.

    Cover blurb:

Ms. Rosalyn Abbett, a spirited young suffragette in 1890’s New York, has just received news that fills her with panic. The confident, striking and highly acclaimed Mr. Anthony Simms, a man she’s met only through letters, will be arriving tomorrow night. Rosalyn's not at all sure what to think. A junior curator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, she and Mr. Simms are to prepare an exhibition of royal jewelry from around the world. Together. Without a chaperone. With an entire museum all to themselves, will her scorching dreams of this stranger come true?

I hope to make new friends on MySpace: www.myspace.com/v_torianne

    NovelTea Next Door

Book 2 in my NovelTea series (NovelTea Next Door) has been contracted for the Crimson or Romantic Suspense line. This story is about 4x the length of the original so I was able to delve a little bit more into the characters and develop a case for the Hero/Heroine to solve together. It is written in first person just like A Night of NovelTea except this time it comes from the hero’s perspective. Writing as a man for an entire story was a challenge but in the end I was very happy with how it turned out. It still has a light, fun tone along with the suspense. Here is the blurb for you:

    Second in the NovelTea Series:

Government agent Grant Gerard knows he’s cocky. It’s the reason he can do this job day after day. He’s always kept his life simple and uncomplicated…until destiny took a turn when he met bookstore/tea shop owner Juliet Truesdale.

Armed with a new lead pertaining to known criminal spook, Alexis Guthrie, Grant enlists Juliet to aid the investigation which ends up at the door of her neighbor, Adam Trudeau. This investment banker neighbor of hers seems harmless enough despite his annoying interest in Juliet. Will this turn of events only usher in more dangerous or even deadly situations for the duo? Can Grant allow Juliet into his heart and keep her safe from the danger looming in the distance?

I have also started a new blog for the NovelTea Series. You can find it at: http://novelteaseries.blogspot.com/. I plan on posting something new every Friday. This is where you can keep up with this exciting romantic-comedy suspense series with excerpts and insight into the stories and characters.

    I'M SHAKESPEARE

    Which famous author/poet are you?
    created with QuizFarm.com
    You scored as William Shakespeare

You are most like William Shakespeare, considered to be the greatest writer in English. Mystery surrounds his life, but scholars know he had a wife and family, who was not around much because he was in London writing and directing plays at the famous Globe Theater, where he produced plays that everyone of any background could enjoy. His sonnets show his mastery of style. His plays show his insight into human nature, as he has created some of the greatest characters in all of literature. His works are too many to list, but some include "Hamlet," "MacBeth" and "Twelfth Night."

    Do You Kindle?

I don't, at least not yet, but I have a feeling I'm falling in love...

I have to admit Amazon's Kindle does attract my attention. It's still a little expensive for me as yet, but I have it on my wish list and will keep an eye on the price, hoping that in a year or so it might go down. Don't tell me I'm wishful thinking, please, I couldn't bear it.

So anyway, I went to visit the Amazon Kindle page and found that Amazon have sold out of the little machine, which surpised me. I watched the little video and was very impressed with it's features, and Kindle was pushed up a bit higher on my wish list! :o)

I was even more impressed and surprised when I saw my historical WWII romance, Broken Hero, was available for Kindle. Does that make me no longer a Kindle virgin?

So if you do Kindle, drop me a line and let me know how you like it. I promise I'll not get too jealous.

    hugs, Anne.~

I have my release date for OES & just signed another contract with TWRP :-)

I'm pleased to announce that I have my release date for my vintage rose time-travel romance One Enchanted Summer. One Enchanted Summer will be available through The Wild Rose Press on June 25th,2008, making it the ideal beach read if you like sexy spies and a little bit of rock and roll in your romantic time-travel tales. I submitted it to a few review sites, let Lisa Dawn take of the other review sites, and now all I can do is wait and hope my vintage rose time-travel is not only reviewed well, that it sells great too
    ;-).
I also signed another contract with The Wild Rose Press. Both me and my friend, Abbey Macinnis signed contracts for the fantastic Wayback Texas tales. Our heroines are sisters and their stories are intertwined, so our fantastic editor, Spencer Glenn, will be working with both of us.
Oh and we'll be moving next month too. So between edits on my Wayback Texas tale, Return of the Prodigal Daughter, and getting ready for the move, it'll be a busy few months before my first Wild Rose Press tale is released. I'm thrilled to be in the garden with such wonderful authors and editors though and I know my association with The Wild Rose Press will continue for many years
    :-D.

Broken Hero out now in ebook!

My WWII romance is now released in ebook!

    Blurb
Audrey Pearson’s life changed dramatically when WWII broke out and her large home, Twelve Pines on the East Yorkshire coast, became a convalescence home for wounded soldiers. Her life is no longer lavish with entertainment, beautiful clothes and surrounded by a loving family. Soldiers, physically and mentally wounded now fill her home. The smell of disinfectant replaces her mother’s perfume and gone are the friends and acquaintances - instead nurses roam the hallways.
Captain Jake Harding, a doctor training in psychiatry arrives at Twelve Pines. Audrey immediately finds herself attracted to the Captain, but he is remote towards her. Puzzled by his cold behaviour, Audrey tries to learn more about the handsome Captain. He reveals that he’s lost a wife and baby in childbirth and refuses to ever remarry. However, despite this, Audrey believes she can change his mind and make him aware he doesn’t have to spend his life alone.
The ice around Jake’s heart begins to melt. For years he has rejected the possibility of finding love again because of the pain it caused him before, but the beautiful Audrey shows him her love and she needs someone to love her in return.
Could he honestly walk away from her, from the love that could be his?

    Excerpt--
“Can we go for a walk down to the beach?” Lucy asked, flipping the bed sheet up and then pulling it down tight.
Audrey pushed a pillow into a clean pillowcase and sighed. “I don’t know if I can today. Val is having problems with one of the nurses, and—”
“They aren’t your responsibility. You do enough, we all do enough! Blasted army, blasted war.” Lucy gave the sheet a vicious tug. “I’m so tired of it. I want some fun.”
    “Lucy—”
“Oh, I just remembered. I forgot to tell you yesterday that there’s a dance on in Brid this Saturday. You’ll come with me, won’t you? Please?”
“We don’t have enough petrol rations to get to Fraisthorpe, never mind Bridlington.”
Lucy grinned. “All sorted. Owen said he’ll drive us in the old cart.”
“The farm cart?” Audrey laughed. “You’ll not be fit to be seen after traveling in a cart.”
“We’ll sweep it out and put blankets in.” Shrugging, Lucy placed the thin green blanket on the end of the bed. “Do say yes, Aud. I’m desperate for a dance. You adore jitterbugging and you’re so good at it. I do hope there’ll be a few Americans in town, they dance so much better than English men.”
“Any man is preferable rather than dancing with other women, as we’ve had to do before.”
“Yes, but that was over a year ago. Now we have so many soldiers based in this area. I heard the Scottish lancers are in town or coming or something.” Lucy spun around. “Men everywhere. I can’t wait.”
“Well, I’ll see. If Valerie doesn’t need me, perhaps.”
Lucy squealed and jumped over the bed to hug and kiss her. A discreet cough separated them and they turned to find Captain Harding lounging in the doorway, smiling at them in his quiet manner. Audrey’s heart did a spin, as it always did whenever she heard or saw him. In the last week, she’d made sure never to be alone with the doctor, not wanting to give him the slightest reason to even think she saw him as anything other than an army doctor here to do a job.
She forced herself to act normal, sophisticated. “Captain Harding, can we be of help?”
His blue eyes held hers for a fraction longer before he straightened. “Yes, Miss Pearson. Sister Lewis was looking for you, as we believe we need another room for Lieutenant Nielson. Unfortunately his nightmares are keeping the rest of the men in his room awake. Is it possible to prepare another room?”
Audrey frowned, she too had heard the poor solider screaming at night, his cries for them to take cover echoed around the house. “Certainly, Captain Harding. Regrettably, my Father believes the rear parlor has some dampness, perhaps there’s a leak in the roof, and we need to fix that before the room is used again.”
“I see.” He rubbed his chin, frowning. “I’d prefer to keep Nielson in his room, as he’s familiar with it, and move the other two men out.”
“We could use Sister Lewis’ office and move everything in there into the drawing room. The office isn’t large but it’ll fit two beds in it.”
“But the officers use the drawing room, Audrey.” Lucy said.
“The officers will simply have to use the dining room and conservatory for their recreational pursuits.” Audrey stepped towards the door.
“Yes, I agree. Sounds like an excellent plan.” Captain Harding didn’t move to let her pass and she stopped to stare at him. “I was wondering Miss Pearson…”
    Her mouth dried. “Yes?”
“I overheard you and your sister,” he shot a look at Lucy, “about your forthcoming dance and I was wondering—”
“Do you wish to go with us, Captain?” Lucy asked, her eyes bright. “And dance the jitterbug with Audrey? She’s ever so good.”
Audrey swallowed, knowing her cheeks flamed. A night of dancing with the handsome Captain? She felt light-headed at the thought.
He laughed softly. “I’m afraid not, Miss Pearson, but I do think it would be beneficial for some of the patients, if they could accompany you? A few of them are in desperate need of some semblance of normality. It helps their healing to remember and experience activities that are good fun and have no connection to war and death…”
“Oh yes!” Lucy clapped. “We never get enough men at these dances. Most of the time we have to dance with other women. What a brilliant idea, Captain.”
“Are-are they well enough to attend?” Audrey murmured, continually saddened by the fine men who were staying at Twelve Pines. They suffered such misery. A couple of officers, Johnson and Price, had changed dramatically since arriving and would happily chat and help around the house. There were others though that still kept apart and were quiet, refusing to discuss what they’d experienced.
“I would say three or four of them, yes. Not the men who arrived with me, obviously, but the others are ready for a little light entertainment. It’ll do them good before they return to the front.”
“They leave soon?” For some reason she couldn’t look at him, frightened, she supposed. Frightened he would see something in her face, the emotion she felt being near him. What a shame the good-looking doctor wasn’t coming with them. She could smell the subtle shaving cologne he wore, a mixture of sandalwood and something else she couldn’t name.
“Yes. Jamieson, Winthrop, Fielding and Battersby all leave a week on Friday. They’ve passed their assessments.”
She nodded and took a step, wanting to be gone from the room, from him and from the emotions warring in her. “I’ll go find Sister Lewis.”
    “Miss Pearson?”
Side-by-side in the doorway they faced each other. Audrey’s head only reached his shoulder. She stared at the shining buttons on his uniform, not trusting herself to look up at him. “Yes, Captain?”
“On second thought, I think I might accompany the men to the dance.”
She glanced at him, her eyes wide and the difficulty to swallow occurred again. “Very well…”
“Just in case the men need me, of course,” he whispered.
Audrey’s skin tingled as though he had caressed her. “Of course…”

New cover and book trailer for my soon to be released One Enchanted Summer

I've just completed my final edits on my Vintage Rose Time-travel One Enchanted Summer and was thrilled to pieces when I got my cover yesterday. Didn't Nicola do a fantasy job with it? I love ... Love ... Love that gorgeous fender strat guitar with Deana's gold dragonstone amulet draped over the knobs :-)! And now that I got my cover, I had to make a book trailer to go with One Enchanted Summer.

It took me a while to find the right music, but I love the sexy guaitar solo. It just sounded like something my rock and roll/ super sexy spy would play :-D. I'll post more info on my release date as soon as I know it.
Oh and I'll be having an author's day at the Romance Bistro After Yahoo group on Saturday March 1st. Since it's Ohio's birthday, I'll be sharing a little Ohio history along with excerpts and fun stuff. Hope to see all my TWRP friends there ;-D.
